This article brings to Light the internal relations and difference between single pitch diameter and actual pitch diameter by means of geometrical analysis of several parameters of pitch diameter.

The errors of the stand-off measurement and measurement errors made by pitch diameter gauge and ovality gauge are analyzed and compared.

Both have the same pitch diameter at the top of the hole of internal threads or end of the pipe on external threads, and both have the same thread lengths or depths.
