Haemolytic uraemic syndrome (HUS) is a life-threatening disease characterized by acute renalfailure (uraemia), haemolytic anaemia, and a low platelet count (thrombocytopenia).
It is noteworthy that amyloid is often unsuspected when the renal biopsy is performed, usually in the nephrotic syndrome or because of unexplained renalfailure.
