TS-1 zeolite was synthesized by hydrothermal method using both tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) and silicon gel as the silicon source.

The composite silica microsphere was obtained through the polymerization of urea and formaldehyde occurred in the silica sol that prepared from the hydrolyzation of tetraethyl orthosilicate.

Then the new cage-like vinyl silsesquioxanes(VS) were synthesized by the reaction of vinyl-tetra-coordinate silicon with tetraethyl orthosilicate in the condition of tetramethyl ammonium hydroxide.
