The danger to the regime, therefore, is not that all of the inchoate anti-Putin forces will engage in a temporary alliance of convenience (such a group will prove almost impossible to manage) but that a single group will present a coherent, specific, and structured alternative to the current system that is embraced by a plurality of the population.
