The characteristic curves of the waveguide loss versus the number of transpositions and crossing angle are drawn out, which conform to the expcted loss characteristics of crossed optical waveguide.

The lifetime of free carriers in a silicon-on-insulator (SOI) rib waveguide, which is used for Raman amplification, is studied in connection with the nonlinear optical loss.

In this thesis, at first we will introduce the electromagnetic theory of optical planar waveguide, analyze the transmission characteristic of different modes and the connection loss of fiber.
