A SCULPTURE by AlbertoGiacometti, one of the 20th century's greatest artists, fetched a record price at Sotheby's, a London auction house, on Wednesday February 3rd.

The world record for a work of art sold at auction was broken in early February 2010, when a sculpture by AlbertoGiacometti sold for $104.3m (including commission and taxes) at Sotheby’s in London.
Although AlbertoGiacometti is considered the premier sculptor of the Surrealist movement of the early 1930s, the Swiss artist is best known for the tall, thin figures he produced after World War II.
