Justification for Paul in Romans has always been by faith, even Abraham was justified by faith not by circumcision.

If you pass the test, you're in good company: Abraham, Moses, Samuel, David, Daniel, Timothy, and Paul were all called faithful servants of God.

For Paul the most important thing is, if God wasn't always justifying people by faith and God was not faithful to the original covenant to Abraham.
