Marking a model, in OMG MDA terminology, means tagging a model with extra information that is used by tools, and that is not appropriate to be captured in the model's semantics.

Some tires will have marking on them, such as the new Kyosho tires. Besides using tools to do that, usually you could feel it by hand by compressing the tire.
