Carbon dioxide forms an acid when it dissolves in water. This acid can react with minerals to form carbonates, locking away the carbon in a relatively inert state.

Locking them away is not sufficient, you have to give them treatment.

Whatever exposure they had with the accumulator client they could hedge away with other derivatives, all but locking in a profit.
