Old-line department-store chain John Lewis added a line of prom dresses this year, and tuxedo-rental stores report a jump in business from kids this time of year.

Much of the information used by Line of Business is outside the control of the it department as it is often sitting in spreadsheets on user desktops.

In doing so, I have witnessed no more than limited success when the industry standard is used as the process for the company, line of business, department, program, or some other organizational unit.
