For linear model, this paper proposes a linear path based backbone algorithm. Simulation results shows system lifetime of this algorithm is improved by 12% of algorithm of plane model.

Based on project experience, it gives a brief introduction to present optical layer linear protection on WDM system, focuses on optical path protection application modes in the project.
