Almost 150 years passed before the practice was revived in 1818 by an English obstetrician, James Blundell, who performed a human-to-human blood transfusion at Guy'sHospital in London.
Dr Kenny, who began his research at Guy'sHospital, London, but now works at Florida's Scripps research Institute, divided rats into three groups for his research, due to be published in teh US soon.
