This paper analyzed and calculated width of coal pillar for driving roadway along gob.

Practice showed that high pre-stress anchored bolt with high strength was effective method for controlling deformation of deep coal roadway with combined roof above gob.

Finally, a calculation example was showed, and the results indicated that the roof separation critical value of gob-side roadway is more than that of solid-coal roadway.
