What has become known as the Hofstede Cultural Orientation Model is based on his study between 1967 and 1973 of IBM employees in 40 different countries.
In addition to interviews and observation, the study surveyed 241 employees, most of them younger than 40, using a survey model created by Dr. Geert Hofstede.
One model, the Hofstede Cultural Orientation model, as reported in the Spring 1995 issue of the ACA Journal, classifies cultures based on where they fall on five continuums.
