The conditions for obtaining white laser light were studied. Further, it was discovered that the absorption of helium by cadmium during condensation seriously affected the life of such a laser.

With these equations we have designed for helium-cadmium lasers a new type of helium replenisher, which has lengthened the life time of a He-Cd laser to over 1000 hours so far.
