According to the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (2006), Bahrain is one of the fastest growing economies in the Arab World due to the growth of its oil industries (which accounts for 30 per cent of the GDP and 60 per cent of export receipts) and the financial (banking), construction and tourism sectors.
