A genus of perennial herbaceous plants of the family Boraginaceae, the members of which have hairy, heart-shaped leaves and panicles of small blue or white flowers, and are native to woodlands of eastern Europe and northwestern Asia; (also brunnera) a plant of this genus, especially Brunnera macrophylla, which is widely cultivated as a shade-loving garden plant.
