A macrolide antibiotic, C₃₅H₆₁NO₁₂, produced by a strain of the bacterium Streptomyces antibioticus, which is active against a wide range of Gram-positive bacteria and has been used as the phosphate in treating staphylococcal enteritis and skin infections.
