A gregarious long-tailed parakeet, Psittacula krameri, with predominantly green plumage and (in the male) a black neck-ring and pink nape-band, which is native to parts of Africa and South Asia but occurs in a feral state in many countries and is popular as a pet; also called ring-necked parakeet.
