Up to now, Sikhs forces were divided into 65 jathas. Nawab Kapur singh reorganised them into Eleven bands, each of course with its own name, flag and leader.
The jathas served as Sikh paramilitary forces when violence broke out during and after the partition of British India in 1947.
So we were not the targets of the Sikh jathas [armed bands] who'd ambushed the train.
The AISAD local unit has requested the SGPC to review its decision of not sending Sikh jathas to Pakistan.
Sikh jathas also came from Canada, Hong Kong and Shanghai to join the campaign.
