A festival, held on 3 May (Holy Rood Day), commemorating the reputed finding of the Cross of Christ by Helena, mother of the emperor Constantine, in AD 326.
The Invention of the Cross is the name given to the supposed discovery of the cross upon which Jesus Christ had been executed.
The 3rd of May was called the feast of the Invention of the Cross, and it commemorated in a special manner Saint Helena's discovery of the sacred wood of the Cross.
