(1925–94), Greek actress and politician; born Anna Amalia Mercouri. Her films include Never on Sunday (1960). She was exiled for opposing the military junta who took power in Greece in 1967, but was elected to Parliament in the socialist government of 1978, becoming Minister of Culture in 1985.
