(1881–1958), US physicist. With L. H. Germer (1896–1971), Davisson discovered electron diffraction, thus confirming de Broglie's theory of the wave nature of electrons. He shared the 1937 Nobel Prize for Physics with George P. Thomson (1892–1975).
